Purpose:

To seek the views of the Committee on proposals to develop a Jobs and Training Academy to maximise employment opportunities through the WHQS and SHARP programmes.

Decision:

(a) That the creation of the Community Benefit and Training Academy to manage the implementation of the community benefit commitments be supported; and

(b) That the creation of a new position to manage and administer the function and services of the academy be supported. The lead officer will be supported initially through existing resource in terms of administration and support. These posts will be funded by a contribution from contractors, WHQS 21^st Century Schools and SHARP programmes.
