Purpose:
Welsh Government has secured powers for the
creation of CJCs on a regional basis originally to cover economic
development, strategic planning, transport and school improvement,
though the latter area has been removed from the current proposals.
Welsh Government have now launched a consultation to seek views on
the details of these proposals.
Decision:
That the Committee supports the response to the Welsh Government’s proposals for CJCs in respect of the strategic transport function, the economic development function, and the proposals for the production of a Strategic Development Plan as set out in the report to and response of the Planning Strategy Group.
